A bit of a nothing day..oh yeah that is what relaxing feels like

This is the first day of August and here in Canada it is Civic Holiday Monday.

Now, I can generate the illusion of busyness with no effort at all. The illusion of importance. But today I woke and thought hmmm why not follow my nose.

First up I sauntered about the neighbourhood for a walk, more of a stroll, with no intention of breaking a sweat. And there I admired this lovely Rose of Sharon, one of my favourite bushes. Part of that admiration probably is a result of the name. I think the words trip lightly off the tongue. Lest you think I am a flower aficionado, I barely know flowers or their name. Just roses, tulips, and Rose of Sharon. Oh, and lilacs, and lily of the valley, and, and, and. and.

Then it was more relaxation. Lunch, reading (Jeffery Deaver’s Midnight Lock) on the balcony while a gentle breeze blew. A bit of time pampering my outdoor plants, (one of which is now indoor since the local squirrels have started burying their winter stash in the plants.

Then I had a mind to reorganize my workspace.

I got to thinking about the Yellow Door, the hidden treasure I discovered and wrote about the other day and that got me thinking about another treasure.

Colleen Faherty Brown from the Chatter Blog, an old blogging friend. She has written some very insightful books, one of which is:

Do check it out and visit her blog for a full list of great reads.

And the word that comes to mind? Serendipity. Amazing.

So here at North of 43, that’s how the day felt.

One is about 43 degrees latitude N. and longitude 80 W, The other almost equidistant south latitude and longitude 174 E. Two women, two minds, different personalities and experiences, choosing a life of meaning, continual growth and learning, at the same time negating ageist opinions of exactly what ‘an old lady’ should be.
