I had another post in mind right up to the point of starting to type, but something else won out.
I have become enamoured of late with an old TV Series from Britain. It has started a once a day episode and I PVR it, generally watching in the evening.
It’s an old tale about love lost, and a reuniting thirty-eight years later, when paths cross again.
It’s a lovely show, starring Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer, that makes me feel, sentimental, wistful, and comforted. I guess. Not sure if that really says how it makes me feel, but it’s the best I can come up with.
It’s a calming time, a laughing time, that ends with a sigh. (Mine not theirs)
Sometimes I find myself wondering if there had been someone who loved me all those years ago and I didn’t know it. Something to ponder.
The series originally ran from 1992-2004 I think.

The Dame is one of my favourite actresses. I love her style, her accent, her humour. Whether she is Jean from this series or M from the 007 franchise she emanates femininity wrapped around iron strength.
The Jean character and the Lionel character play off each other well. And none of this kissy sweet stuff. They grumble and gripe like most real life couples I know.
It just makes for a very pleasant half hour a day. And of course the lyrics and music brings back warm feelings of yesteryear. You know, mid-last century.
It all just feels like a soothing balm in a world that’s gone upside down.
As Time Goes By
Song by Dooley Wilson
Lyrics
You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say “I love you”
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate
That no one can deny
It’s still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate
That no one can deny
It’s still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

I MUST ask my friend to get me those.
I am waiting for my ex-boss to drop off an external drive with a Terabyte of series.
Maybe it will be on there.
Should get it next week.
Have you watched The Best Exotic Marigold hotel?
And the second best exotic marigold hotel.
Delightful movies, also with Judy Dench.

I’ll have to give a look for this. I do like The Dame. 🙂 And I can’t help but be pulled in by the feelings you express having. I wouldn’t mind a moment like those.
