Last week I decided that at my vast age, I should slow down somewhat. With all my activities I am out every day with something to do, people to meet, an interest group to attend, and ailing friends to visit. I changed some visits, to meeting fortnightly instead of weekly and decided there were some interest groups that I could continue to attend in an ad hoc way, and I would join no further groups.
Forward to today. Monday 9 May 2022. The first day of my replanned life. A committee meeting before our monthly Probus meeting, a total of four hours. So, with my new plan in place, I should have decided that was enough and then gone home. Err – what do they say about the best laid plans? After declining the invitation for at least a couple of years I succumbed and went to the book club meeting directly after Probus. This meant that I was out for seven hours today. I enjoyed the book club. Will I actually join and continue to meet with them each month? I am undecided – so watch this space!
Note – I have been talking about my ‘vast’ age for the past eleven years. What follows vast – vaster?

It’s hard to decide how to spend your time. As long as you are enjoying the activity, it’s fine. I dropped out of one writer’s group as they became too negative and kept repeating themselves. I don’t have time for that. I always have time to discuss books!

The nicest thing about ‘revisiting’ is you get to do it again and again, always resetting. Good for you! Off to reblog this to Bridges!

If you enjoy being busy, why change? What does age have to do with it?

Nothing indeed. I will continue to be busy but now maybe not quite as frantic. Thanks for your comment

The last time I was away from home was when I worked,
Suggested a little trip away to M..
It did not go down well.

I have to remind myself to slow down everyday. Recently, I overdid again and then bombed out for a week. It was lovely. I flaked out on the couch and read books. I hope to remember the experience!

My real problem is I forget that I am not 54 anymore and I am in fact 84. I will still continue to do many of the things that I love but I will pace myself a little from here on. Well that’s the plan anyway.
