“Synchronicity is an ever present reality for those
who have eyes to see.”
Carl Jung
The first blogpost I read this morning was from Jo Nell at The Coastal Crone. Jo’s post was edited Happiness, Courage, Strength & A Sense of Humour. In it she tells of Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s book of poetry and essays Gift of the Sea. I had not heard of this book, or indeed anything about this wife of Charles Lindbergh, although of curse, we all know about his daring deeds.
I immediately put this book on my TBR list.
Imagine then my surprise to see on Reader and immediately underneath Jo’s blog another blogger who wrote a review on The Aviator’s Wife. This is a book that goes “behind the scenes and into the heart of the woman who loved and married Charles Lindbergh.”
Unfortunately I cannot find the blog that reviewed this book, but here is the link on the author’s website – Melanie Benjamin. I have downloaded a copy of the book ono my iPad to read later this afternoon.
Several years ago I wrote on my other blog about Synchronicity, Serendipity or Coincidence. In fact I wrote about this originally in 2017and then updated it last year. See links at the foot of this post to read each of these..
So which is it when something like this occurs.? I put it down to Synchronicity.
The definition – the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.
But do you agree? Or do you think it one of these:
Serendipity – the occurrence and development of events by chance
in a happy and beneficial way
Coincidence – a striking occurrence of two or more events at one time
apparently by mere chance.
And from Mary Oliver –

Thanks for the mention! I have not found the biography I mentioned, but did find that our local library has the novel you mentioned, “The Aviator’s Wife,” so I may start with that. Thanks for sharing. I love it when we can share books!

Thanks Jo Nell. I have Gift of the Sea on Reserve at our local library, so I hope I don’t have long to wait for it. Did you get a copy of The Aviator’s Wife? Today I picked up another of her books Mistress of the Ritz. So I should have plenty to read when the promised rain falls on Thursday.

I embrace synchronicity because it embraces me. And you. Coincidence is but a minor part of it. Perhaps there is no coincidence

I read Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s book Gift of the Sea many years ago and loved it. I’ve given it as a gift many times over the years. In fact, it is probably time to read it again. Synchronicity no longer surprises me, it happens very often.
